Safeguarding Policy

Tunbridge Wells Chess Club is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who takes part in our activities. This includes players of all ages, volunteers, and visitors.

Safeguarding is particularly important where children, young people, and vulnerable adults are involved. We take this responsibility seriously and expect all members to do the same.

Our Approach

• We aim to follow the safeguarding guidelines issued by the English Chess Federation (ECF).
• The club recognises its duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of all members.
• We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that children, young people, and vulnerable adults are protected from harm.
• All members should treat each other with respect, fairness, and consideration.

Reporting Concerns

If you have a safeguarding concern:

• Please raise it with the Club Safeguarding Officer in the first instance.
• If unavailable, you may speak to another club officer (see Contact page).
• If urgent, or if you feel a person is at immediate risk, please contact the relevant authorities straight away.

Under Review

This safeguarding policy is currently under review by the club. In the meantime, we will continue to act in the spirit of the ECF safeguarding guidelines, and will update this page once the review is complete.
